Coating Type SIC Heating Element

SIC heating element can be used in furnaces with different atmospheres, but the service life of the element will be affected and shortened under some atmosphere conditions. In order to prolong the service life of the element in different atmospheres, we have prepared different types of coatings to protect the silicon carbide structure of the element from accelerated aging, mainly including A, B, C, D and other types of coatings. However, in fact, several harmful volatiles in a furnace may exist at the same time, and even harmless volatiles become harmful due to mixing with other volatiles, thus affecting the service life of components. Due to the different application effects of different types of coatings in different atmospheres, small batch tests should be conducted for specific problems to find the best scheme and select the most suitable coating.

Parameters
Atmosphere Effect on heating elements Solution Recommended coating
Vapor and moisture The service life is about 20% shorter than that in dry atmosphere When the new furnace operates or the old furnace does not work for a long time and is used again, it shall be fully dried at low temperature before heating up. A coat
Nitrogen gas When the temperature exceeds 1400 ℃, nitrogen reacts with silicon carbide to produce silicon nitride, which makes the heating element very brittle and shortens its service life. It is suggested that the furnace temperature should be below 1300 ℃ and the surface load should be as small as possible. B coat
Hydrogen After the heating element rises to 1350 ℃, the resistance increases rapidly and the mechanical strength decreases. Moreover, the service life varies greatly according to the different dry and wet gases. It is recommended that the furnace temperature be below 1300 ℃ and the surface load be less than 5W / C ㎡ C coat
Ammonia The condition is the same as that of hydrogen and nitrogen. It is recommended that the furnace temperature be below 1300 ℃ and the surface load be less than 5W / C ㎡ B coat
C coat
Other gases Various substances produced by the treated material, such as lead, antimony and alkali metal compounds, react with the heating element to shorten the service life. It is suggested that these substances be removed from the treated substances in advance, and exhaust holes should be set in the furnace to reduce their impact. D coat
